How the classes are organised:
The governors support the principle of mixed ability teaching within the class. We operate a two form entry for four years, with single age groups in each year. When children start in Year 3 careful consideration is always given to create classes with a mix of ability, gender and birthday. Once in place children stay in their same class group as they move through the school. We do try to keep a low pupil teacher ratio by employing four higher level teaching assistants, working within year groups supporting the children. Class teachers meet at least twice weekly to plan and assess work ensuring a balance of curriulum experiences across the year group to meet the needs of all children.
Teaching Hours:
Children are directly taught for 4 and 3/4 hours per day or 23 and 3/4 hours per week, including religious education but excluding assemblies, registration and break times.
